Cabo San Lucas is renowned for some if the best fishing in the world. If you are looking for a trophy or just for dinner, this is the place!
Cabo is located at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez join. This convergence creates the perfect feeding and breeding grounds for all sea life up and down the food chain.
Within view of the coastline, there is an abundance of pargo, sierra, grouper snapper, marlin and swordfish. A little further out, you will find tuna, yellowtail and dorado.
As the water warms, the bigger Marlin, start entering the Gulf to enjoy the banquet. By September, they are big, fat and happy, ready to hook up and become a record. (We encourage a policy of Catch and Release unless the fish is wounded or it’s going to the dinner table).
Last time my buddy Kim was here, he caught twenty five Sierra, just off shore. By the end of the day, he really had a sore arm. He brought his fish to the chef at Marina Sol and a few hours later, we had a feast of spicy, tangy ceviche, Filet with oil and garlic and coconut fish fingers. We all had fat tummies and smiles of satisfaction on our faces by the end of the evening. Thanks Kim!!
Our very dear friends from Eastern Colorado, Mike and Barri have been vacationing in Cabo for the last twenty years. They keep returning for sun and fun, but primarily for the fishing. I am sure at one time or another the have caught everything thie sea has to offer. Would you believe their one day record was 78 tuna!!! The deckhands were cleaning fish well after dark. The smoke house must have been delighted.
